SHARK FEEDING

shark feedingshark feedingshark feedingshark feeding
The practice of shark feeding is very controversial.
The main argument against this activity is:
The regularly feeding of sharks is changing their natural behaviour.
The sharks are coming closer to the shore,
where they become a danger for swimmers, surfers, fisherman, … .

In French Polynesia, shark feeding is taking place since more
then 20 years without any incidents. The feeding is mostly performed
at the same spots, outside the reef barriers, where normally
no other water sport activities are taking place.
The way how the feeding sessions are organized vary
from island to island and dive centre to dive centre.
Some instructors are feeding chunks of fish out of hand,
while others just hide some smaller pieces under a coral or rock.
On some Islands it is generally prohibited.
All divers who participated in those feedings,
described it as a very positive experience, which was changing
their opinion about the so often called "man eating monsters."
